A day for all the dogs and dog lovers across the region is set to raise funds for charity.
Paws in the Park, at Hardwick Heath in Bury St Edmunds on Sunday, May 22, will see a dog show, competitions, displays and family fun raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Celebrity judge Helen Fraser will help to decide the winners of categories including handsomest dog, prettiest bitch, waggiest tail, best pair of dogs, best puppy, dog that looks most like its owner, best veteran, young handler, best dressed and best in show.
Actress Helen, who has starred in popular television shows and films including Billy Liar and Bad Girls, will also be bringing her pug along on the day.
She said: “Here’s to a happy and successful show.
“I’m looking forward to judging the dog show and hope we have a fine weather day. It’s something I’ve never done before!”
Paws in the Park will feature three arenas of entertainment and demonstrations, including a gun dog scurry and dog agility, with the chance for visiting dogs and their owners to have a go.
In addition, event sponsors Swayne and Partners vets will be offering pet care and microchipping advice and information; there will be a puppy zone, trade stalls, family fun and attractions, while food and refreshments will be available.
Paws in the Park is from 11am-4pm. Advance tickets cost £4 adults, £2.50 children and £12 family (two adults, three children). On-the-day tickets will cost £5 adults, £3 children, £15 family.
