Shakespeare in a cabaret style
Cambridge Arts Theatre has teamed up with multiple award winning producers Kenny Wax Ltd to tour The Shakespeare Revue, a hilarious cabaret-style musical, filled with Shakespearean songs and sketches, before its move to the West End.
You certainly don’t have to be a Shakespearean expert to enjoy this comic concoction of songs from musical masters such as Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim and Stiles and Drewe and side-splitting sketches by popular comedy legends Monty Python, Victoria Wood, Alan Bennett, Noel Coward and Fry and Laurie.
Originally produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company in, The Shakespeare Revue has since celebrated a hugely successful West End run, played Off-Broadway and has completed five US tours and travelled the world.
Christopher Luscombe read English at Cambridge. He began his career as an actor, first appearing in the Cambridge Footlights before spending seven years with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and went on to appear at the National Theatre and in the West End.
Malcolm McKee is an actor, writer, director and composer who is well known to Radio 4 audiences for his long running role (20 years) as Graham Ryder in The Archers.
Recent work includes: Travels with My Aunt (Chocolate Factory); The Madness of George III (Apollo); When We Are Married (Garrick, Olivier Award nomination for Best Revival).
The show runs at the arts theatre from August 9 to 20.
