Musical fun on the open seas
After the spectacular success of last year’s, The Pirates of Penzance, the award-winning all-male cast return to Cambridge.
This time the cast are set to put a fast-paced, fun and inventive spin on another Gilbert & Sullivan classic, H.M.S. Pinafore.
Dealing with the age old conundrum of love between social classes, H.M.S. Pinafore takes place aboard the seas.
World War Two sailors aboard HMS Pinafore set out to find a distraction from the goings on above board with a production of their favourite show.
Featuring infectious and immediately recognisable tunes such as We Sail the Ocean Blue, A Maiden Fair to See and Sorry Her Lot Who Loves Too Well, dance, comedy and a beautifully constructed libretto, H.M.S. Pinafore is one of the most popular in Gilbert & Sullivan’s repertoire of work.
In 2015 The Pirates of Penzance completed a UK tour, and won the Best Off West End Production at the What’s On Stage awards.
Gilbert and Sullivan are the world-renowned theatrical partnership.
The pair are responsible for comic operas such as The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and Princess Ida.
