A competition has been launched by the Suffolk Preservation Society (SPS) as part of the #SuffolkBeauty campaign.

The SPS is a charity that is charged with protecting and enhancing Suffolk’s heritage buildings and is encouraging local residents to submit an image along with some words to sum up why Suffolk is so beautiful.

SPS director Fiona Cairns said: “Planners and councillors weigh up individual planning applications for new developments, taking into account Local Plan policies with regard to a whole range of impacts.

“Whilst the design of a new building is assessed on how it looks and fits into its surroundings, this process is usually carried out in a narrow and ‘professional’ way.

“The aim of the #SuffolkBeauty campaign is to put the issue of beauty at the centre of planning debate.”

The competition is running until February 10 2017 with the winners being announced in March 2017.
