Cambridge Classical Concert Series continues with Philarmonia Orchestra

The award-winning Philharmonia Orchestra returns to Cambridge Corn Exchange on Saturday, March 4 to perform the latest concert in the 2016/17 Cambridge Classical Concert Series.

Conducted by Tugan Sokhiev, the concert opens with Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture.

For the centrepiece of the evening, soloist Alexandra Soumm performs Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, the composer’s most enduring and best-loved work.

The concert ends with Tchaikovsky’s great Symphony No. 6 (‘Pathetique’), one of the defining sounds of the Romantic period.

There is a pre-concert talk starting at 6pm in Cambridge Guildhall’s Council Chamber, when Alexandra Soumm will be interviewed by classical music expert Jonathan James, and this event is free of charge to concert ticket holders.
