WEEKEND CRICKET: Sudbury and Halstead suffer defeats

SUDBURY Cricket Club suffered a 182 run defeat at home to Swardeston on Saturday, but the game saw a five wicket haul for the Talbot’s Ben Reece.

It’s now three defeats from their first three games in the East Anglian Premier League for Sudbury, but they have managed to pick up 21 points, putting them one above the bottom in the embryonic table.

Batting first, Swardeston, the national Twenty/20 champions, registered 314-8, which saw Reece take 5-70.

In reply, Darren Batch’s Sudbury 132 all out from 39.2 overs.

Meanwhile, Halstead suffered a heavy defeat, by 206 runs, to Horsford.

After the hosts posted 250 from their allotted overs, Halstead could only manage 44 all out from 21.1 overs.
