VIDEO: AFC Sudbury boss fears captain could miss the rest of the season

Jamie Godbold spoke to sports editor Russell Claydon following Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Wroxham, speaking about a tale of two halves, as well as injuries to skipper Sam Clarke and goalscorer Joe Maybanks.

Saturday’s contest saw first half goals from Joe Maybanks and substitute Jack Newman put AFC in a commanding position at the break, before substitute player/coach Gavin Lemmon pulled one back in the 78th minute.

But the result never looked in doubt as AFC maintained their 11 point gap at the top of the Ryman League Division One North table.

The Yellows will be watching on tonight (Tuesday, April 5) to see if Harlow Town (away to AFC’s rivals Bury Town) and Thurrock (home to 4th placed Cray Wanderers) kick-start their promotion party as they would have the title and their place in the Ryman League Premier Division next season confirmed if both drop points.

Otherwise, they will go to Tilbury on Saturday knowing another win would see them finish the season as champions with three games still to play.
