Hadleigh United’s seven match unbeaten run was ended by Stanway Rovers’ 2-0 win at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.
The Essex side dominated the opening stages, with Ben Newson breaking clear to score after 25 minutes.
Stanway’s Billy Hunt received a straight red card later in the first-half, but Hadleigh made little headway in the opening period.
The second goal came on the hour mark when a free-kick from Jack Cawley saw Liam Scopes head into his own net.
Hadleigh had a good share of the remaining play, with Danny Thrower twice testing keeper Nick Punter in the closing stages.
The Brettsiders will look to get back to winning ways when they host Newmarket Town tomorrow (7.45pm), before trips to Haverhill Rovers (Monday, 7.45pm) and Ipswich Wanderers (Wednesday, 7.45pm).
n Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Long Melford go to leaders Norwich United on Saturday (3pm), before hosting Haverhill Rovers on Wednesday (7.45pm).
Jules Mumford’s side were due to visit Godmanchester Rovers last night.

Nathan Finan and Rene Swann were on target in their 2-0 win over Haverhill Borough last Thursday.
