Reece Topley has expressed his delight in making his England debut in Monday’s Twenty/20 victory over Australia.
The fast bowler, who played for Hadleigh Cricket Club as a youngster, took his first wicket as England won by five runs.
Topley, whose family are from Polstead, said in an interview with the ECB: “Words can’t describe how I’m feeling.
“It was a massive privilege to be playing for England and the fans in Cardiff were absolutely unbelievable.”
“I’ve never heard a noise like that, there was an absolute roar from the crowd every time we got a wicket.”
The Essex player announced this week he is set to move to Hampshire at the end of the season.
