AFC Sudbury made it a perfect 10 with a 1-0 victory at Romford last night.

Jordan Blackwell netted the only goal of the game at Ship Lane as AFC stretched their record of consecutive league wins into double figures.

But just as importantly, victory saw Jamie Godbold’s side extend their lead at the top of the Ryman North to five points.

Blackwell struck early in the first half but, despite added pressure from the away side, they could not add to their tally.

Prior to this season, AFC’s record of consecutive league wins was six.

Their new record of 10 wins has come against Thamesmead Town (2-0), Wroxham (2-1), Waltham Abbey (3-0), Harlow Town (2-1), Phoenix Sports (1-0), Cray Wanderers (2-1), Aveley (3-1), Witham Town (2-1), Bury Town (2-0) and Romford (1-0).

Staggeringly, six of those wins have been earned on the road.

Sudbury have a game in hand on second-placed rivals Cray Wanderers, and they will be hoping to extend their successful sequence on Saturday as they host third-placed AFC Hornchurch at King’s Marsh.

Kick off will be at 3pm.
