Switching dates will not change Godbold’s plans
Jamie Godbold does not expect his AFC Sudbury side to be adversely affected by the late change of date and venue for this weekend’s clash against Haringey Borough.
The Yellows were due to travel to North London on Saturday, but Haringey’s Coles Park Stadium pitch has been deemed unplayable.
Instead, the fixture will take place 24 hours later at Tilbury’s Chadfields ground.
It will provide those teams in pursuit with the chance to make up some ground before table-topping Sudbury play, but Godbold has no concerns.
“There will be no difference for us. We will prepare in a similar way to any other match,” he said.
“We’re taking one game at a time and the next cup final is Haringey.
“We don’t tend to worry about others. If anything, if those around us lose, it would give us a greater incentive.”
When the two sides met at The Wardale Williams Stadium earlier in the season, Godbold’s men claimed the three points thanks to goals from Liam Wales and Luke Callander.
Jack Newman and George Clarke were rested for the 1-0 victory over Barkingside last weekend, but both are in contention to feature against Haringey.
