Sam takes on New York
Halstead Road Runner Sam Wilson headed to New York at the weekend to take part in the city’s huge 10k race.
Competing in a field of more than 8,000 athletes, including many elite professionals, Wilson finished in a very respectable time of 53:31, placing him 3,150th.
n Good Friday marked the annual Sudbury five-mile Fun Run with many Halstead runners competing in this popular event.
Stewart Ellis ran an outstanding race to finish 19th overall out of nearly 500 finishers.
Club Captain Jim Clark and club regular Jim Leaney also ran outstanding races, both setting new personal bests.

n The Easter Weekend also saw a series of four trail runs, the aptly named Easter Eggstravanganza Trail Run Series.
Club stalwarts Andy and Wendy Carter ran fine races with Andy Carter rolling back the years finishing well overall on each of his races.

n Without doubt the muddiest race of the weekend was The Gauntlet, a 12k ‘assault course’ competed within the grounds of Spains Hall, Finchingfield which included cold, head-deep lakes, ditches and numerous obstacles to tackle.
Halstead fielded a strong team, with Bradley Doe winning his wave to finish 13th overall. Jim Leaney and Hazel Buist made it two races over the weekend to finish this gruelling event strongly.
