Riders are preparing for uphill challenge
Cycle Club Sudbury will be well represented in Sunday’s East District Cycle Association Hill Climb Championship at Semer, with nine members taking part, including 13-year-old Molly Cutmore, making her Semer debut.
The Falling Leaves Hill Climb, an annual event organised by CC Sudbury, has attracted a record entry of 77, including last year’s winner, 16-year-old Frank Longstaff of Colchester Rovers CC. Riders go off at one minute intervals, the first at 11.01am, and the last at 12.17pm.
As well as team and individual prize money, additional prizes of £75 – sponsored by Robins Row Long Melford — will go to the person who sets a new overall course record, and to the woman who sets a new women’s course record.
These stand at 43.4 seconds, set by Tom Stephenson of Colchester Rovers in 2011, and 56.6 seconds set by Victoria Pendleton, of Mildenhall CC in 2002.
