Opener brings top class racing

Halstead and District Motorcycle Club opened their 2015 motocross season at Little Loveney Hall, Wakes Colne on Sunday.

Round one of the Eastern Centre Solo MX Championships saw an entry of 30 Experts and 160 Junior riders give the spectators their money’s worth of top class motocross racing, with Halstead Club riders prominent in the results.

Brad Tomlin was the most successful in the Expert Championship, with second place in two of his three races, and eighth in the other.

In the Junior Championship, Jordan Cutting took a good third place overall.

He was closely followed by Tilbury-based John Hinz in fourth overall.

In Group B, Mark Relland was second overall, with Steve Cadd sixth overall while in Group C Tom Crees was out front, with Vince Pryke second overall.

Another Halstead Club rider out in front was Darcy Roberts in Group D, with Mick Cadd fourth.

There was bad luck however, for Lewis Tombs, who injured his foot at Lyng at the beginning of the season and could be out for some while.

Tombs, from Bury St Edmunds, has had good results in both the Maxxis British MX1 Class Championships and National MX Championships.

The next motocross meeting at Wakes Colne is on Friday, June 19, a round of the GH M/Cs G&B Finch-sponsored evening series.

Details will be issued in early June.
