Norwich City fan Edward Seaman says: Losing out on automatic now could be a blessing

So it has been confirmed, it is the play-offs for Norwich City.

Bournemouth’s win over Bolton means that we can now not mathematically finish in the top two.

Although the overriding emotion is disappointment, maybe having our fate sealed with a game to go will be a blessing in disguise.

Even if Bournemouth would have lost, we’d still have been relying on them and Middlesbrough to slip-up again on the last day.

Now we have two weeks, and tomorrow’s match versus Fulham, to prepare for the play-offs, both physically but more important, mentally.

You could see from the players’ reactions post Rotherham how disappointed they were and their ability to pick themselves up is going to be key.

It’s hard to be disappointed with the team having had to play for over an hour with 10 men, but to concede so late on was hard to take, especially with Boro losing.

The actions of Lewis Grabban were inexcusable, especially that early in a game that we needed to win.

He let himself and the club down, but he’ll know that and hopefully, should we make the play-off final, will be able to make amends from that, although he will be a miss.

I think it’s important to finish with a win tomorrow, considering we haven’t won in two, to give us momentum.

Grabban’s absence should lead to a proper chance for Gary Hooper, our only striker currently in goalscoring form.

His strike against Rotherham was sublime, and it is that kind of inspiration that might be the difference come the play-offs.

Of course, the annual Player of the Season award will be handed out tomorrow, and my money is firmly on Bradley Johnson. He has had a fantastic season, adding goals to his typically combative performances – and how spectacular have some of those goals been?

Missing out on automatic promotion is a shame but together we can regroup and push towards promotion at Wembley under Alex Neil.
