Norwich City fan Edward Seaman says: City are up for dogfight ahead of crucial period

With just 10 games to go in the Championship promotion dogfight there is no better time to sit back and take stock ahead of what is going to be a frantic finish.

For me, the biggest credit to Alex Neil is that his Norwich City side are right in the race, having been 11 points adrift of the top when the Scot took over in January.

Much of this can be attributed to his positive man management style and renewed belief that he has instilled.

Proof has been in the results, with City turning moments of adversity into success, as was seen with the late comeback at Blackburn, and in finding a winner at Charlton having been pegged back from 2-0 up.

On top of that, it is the way City have reacted to set-backs, and we need to accept there will be more between now and May, with strong performances.

That was evident last Saturday as a Jonny Howson brace inspired City to an emphatic 4-1 win at Millwall. Again, it wasn’t just the win but the nature of the performance, avenging last week’s defeat at home to Wigan.

It was no coincidence that two of the three games Neil has failed to win came when Howson was suspended as it is clear that he is a player with Premier League quality.

Looking forward, excuse the cliché, but City host Derby tomorrow in the first of 10 cup finals.

Steve McClaren’s men will still be reeling having conceded two stoppage-time goals against Birmingham and City will need the same intensity as they did at home to Wolves and Ipswich.

Playing Derby will probably suit us more than Wigan. Derby will come and play football, as opposed to sitting back, leaving more space for Wes Hoolahan and Nathan Redmond to make their mark.

I am sure we all remember last time Derby visited Carrow Road in 2011 with that goal from Simeon Jackson and recreating that result would put City in the driving seat ahead of a decisive few months.
