AFC Sudbury have stepped up their preparations for the upcoming season by announcing nine players have signed new contracts at the club.

Long-serving club captain Sam Clarke heads the list of players to have put pen to paper this week, with last season’s player of the year winners, James Baker and Ben Robinson, also committing their futures to Sudbury.

Deals have also been agreed with Ollie Berquez, Ryan Henshaw, Luke Callander, Marcus Garnham, Stefano Mallardo and Luke Avenell.

They join new signings Ollie Canfer and Ross Bailey and young duo Jordan Blackwell and Kyran Clements, who had already penned new contracts earlier this month.

Skipper Clarke is the club’s longest-serving player, having chalked up 285 appearances for the Yellows since joining in 2008.

Striker-turned defender Baker picked up both the Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player of The Year awards last season.

He formed a strong partnership in defence with Henshaw, which could be continued in 2015-16 after the latter also agreed a new deal.

Manager’s Player of The Year Ben Robinson will be hoping to build on a memorable debut season after committing to the club.

Striker Callander impressed at the end of last season with seven goals in 10 games to earn himself an offer from manager Jamie Godbold.
