Gosfield-based St. Margaret’s Prep School’s equestrian team enjoyed success in the Inter-Schools competition at the West College of Anglia.

Year 5 pupil Georgia Miller was awarded first place in the Grassroots 60cm class, with Izzy Lane, also Year 5, coming in third place in the same competition.

This meant both girls have qualified for the Regional Championships.

In the 70cm competition, Miller came fourth and Lane fifth.

The competition featured representatives from a number of schools across the region.

St Margaret’s principal Elaine Powling said: “This is a wonderful achievement for our girls in their first season of competition.

“St Margaret’s have teams representing them in a wide range of sports in the local area and at a national level, and our equestrian team is a superb example of the commitment and team spirit that our pupils display.”

She presented both girls with a St Margaret’s School tie in assembly, which they will wear in all schools’ competitions.

The team also have numnahs, a shaped saddle pad, in St Margaret’s colours.
