THE Gosfield Niner saw water skiers form all over the region competing to gain qualifying times for the nationals, to be held in Lincolnshire at the end of the month.
But for Gosfield Lake family owners the Turps it was a clean sweep as they won every event they competed in, including Benjamin Turp with a highly impressive two buoys at 14m in the slalom.
William Turp, 17, and Callum Heath, 15, both Gosfield boys in the Great Britian squad, made their last home outing before heading off to the European Championships in Ukraine on July 17. Heath jumped 30m for the first time on Saturday.
The weekend event was a three round multi event of trick, slalom and jump that was international ranking and record capability. Libby Knott, a seniors Gosfield Lake Water Ski Club member, was the only competitor to equal an existing record at the event, but it was not without cost with her requiring an ambulance and subsequently 14 stitches for her ear. Ages on the day ranged from 10 to 68.
The seniors - 25 and over - national competition is set to be held at Gosfield Lake over two days from August 13.
Owner Emma Turp said the weekend’s event had seen some very high quality water skiing take place but any beginners are welcome to try out the sport at Gosfield Lake and should contact them direct on 01787 475043.
