GYMNASTICS sensation Tommy Nicolaou enhanced his growing reputation in the sport after giving a dazzling display to come overall runner-up at the British Championships on Sunday.
At the biggest event in the junior gymnastics calendar, Lamarsh-based Nicolaou scooped silver overall in the under-14s age category after wowing judges at Senton Manor in Stoke-on-Trent.
The 2020 Olympic development squad member was crowned British champion on high bar while picking up silver on the rings and bronze on the vault and pommel.
“He is absolutely delighted,” said his mother Olivia, who said his father Darren and herself were immensely proud of their son.
The Hedingham School pupil will now be taking a break from major competitions due to the Olympics, but the Ipswich Pipers Vale team member, who has been training with Team GB, is set to take part in a training camp in Lewisham next month.
