Halstead and District Motorcycle Club’s Lewis Tombs took ninth place overall in the latest round of the Maxxis British MX2 Championship at Hawkstone Park.
The young rider had consistent finishes, coming ninth in race one and three and 11th in race two.
With one round to contest in October, Tombs — who is riding a Jar IFS Honda in his first season in the Northern Ireland-based team — is aiming to finish in the top 10 of the series, which would be a great achievement.
He has scored points at every round held this season.
East Anglia SSC held its two-day Summer Championship meeting at Halstead Club’s well-prepared track at Wakes Colne and Halstead Club riders were in the results on both days.
On Saturday in the seniors, Harry Mills was fourth overall.
In the AMX, Adam May was second overall while in the AMX Open, best-placed Junior Thomas came second overall and in the AMX Vets, Chris Keeble finished fifth.
In the Seniors on Sunday, Mills was fourth overall.
Mayo was first in the AMX and the best-placed Halstead rider in the AMX Open was Charlie Heatley.
In the AMX Vets, a hat-trick of wins gave John Hinz top place overall.
