Sudbury Storms enjoyed medal-winning success when 10 swimmers competed in the East Region Open Water events held on Sunday.
The first six swam 3k, with Chris Greenhalgh (38 minutes and 19 seconds), Stuart McLellan (51.42), Georgie Hodgson (52.59), Sharon McLellan (55.30), Sue Moye (1.02.00) and Sue Hodgson (1.06.00) all giving promising displays.
The performances saw Greenhalgh, Stuart and Sharon McLellan crowned regional and county champions while Moye and Hodgson won county bronze medals.
Greenhalgh also qualified to swim in Sheffield at National level.
There was further joy in the 1500m where Sarah Clarke (29.20) and Clive Evans (38.52) did enough to clinch glory in their respective age groups.
That success continued in the 800m where Alex Curran won in a time of 12.18, while the club’s youngest swimmer on the day improved on her time from last year in an encouraging display.
Barnet Copthall distance meet where Stuart clinched seven gold medals from seven events, while Sharon won two silvers and a bronze.
The pair also competed in the National Open Water Championships at Rother Valley in Sheffield, where Stuart again proved victorious while Sharon sealed a welcome bronze medal.
