Sudbury Motorcycle Club had three riders among the top 40 in the recent Weston-super-Mare Weston Beach Race.

Jamie Roper was the highest placed of the club’s riders, in 13th, while his cousin Craig Roper was 32nd and older brother Stevie Roper was 34th from a field including some top motocross riders and beach race riders.

Steve Mason, Jamie’s future brother-in-law, finished 52nd, Chris Hart came 55th and Marker Waller rode him in 100th.

Richard Walters came 114th, Paul Belton 140th, Nick Ames 141th and Michael Hockney 341st.

With Graham Mays away, the best Sudbury member in the over-40s class was Mark Waller in 14th, followed by Paul Belton in 25th, Nick Ames in 26th and Michael Hockney in 83rd.

There is one more event in the Eastern Centre and that is the last round of the British Enduro Championship being stage by the Diss Motorcycle Club in Thetford Forest on November 24. This is a prestigious event and several Sudbury members will take the opportunity to ride against top national riders.

The club has applied to run seven events again for 2014 and within the next few weeks they will know if the dates for these events have been granted.

In the meantime the club’s committee are deciding who are the winners for club trophies to be presented at the annual awards night.
