Rochford Hundred 15
Sudbury finished their league campaign with a bonus point win over Rochford Hundred on Saturday.
Graham Richards’ side host Hammersmith and Fulham for a place in London League Division One North this weekend, as they look to secure back-to-back promotions.
Rochford scored first when Sudbury were caught offside and a kick in front of the posts was too good to turn down.
The visitors also crossed the paintwork but the try was disallowed, before Sudbury got on the scoresheet when Harry Maile eventually scored, after the forwards picked and drove right up to the line and then put the ball out to the left having sucked in the defence.
Just on half-time another break took Sudbury deep into the Rochford half and Tom Summers finished the move wide on the right.
From the restart Sudbury scored with the first move of the half when Will Nankevill scored from close range.
Maile claimed two more tries before Shaun Smith broke from the Sudbury 22 and offloaded to Nick Robinson to score under the posts.
With 10 minutes left Rochford scored when Sudbury were penalized five metres out, before Will Ponty pounced on the loose ball to scramble over for the hosts.
Rochford had the last laugh by scoring the final try of the afternoon.
