Mark Theobald made it 3-0 and took the man-of-the-match award with a hard-fought 3-2 win over George Gilbert, before Jason Stalker increased Sudbury’s lead by beating Kevin Hunter 3-1.

Martin Totman sealed victory for Sudbury winning a tight match 3-2 against Neil Batchelor.

Stow hit back to take the remaining games, starting with Bill Paris) going down 3-1 to Mark Carter.

Ian Randles was beaten 3-2 by Graham Peck, and Toby Edwards went down 3-0 to Lewis Cracknell in the final game.

Despite only losing three times all season, Sudbury’s 11 drawn matches cost them vital points towards a far higher finish.

Meanwhile, Sudbury Town’s John Attwater and Jason Stalker were among the winners as Suffolk ended their British Inter Counties Championship Division Two season with a fine 21-15 overall victory against Berkshire at Kesgrave Social Club.

Attwater beat Andy Wells, and Stalker won 3-0 against John Wasylczuk as Suffolk Men’s B denied Berkshire the divisional title with a 7-5 win on Saturday.

In Sunday’s Men’s A match, there were defeats for Sudbury’s Ian Randles, losing 4-1 against Paul Hogan, and Martin Totman who went down 4-0 to Kevan Merritt.

Suffolk’s win assured Division Two status once again next season, with an eighth place finish.
