Sudbury edge deciding legs to beat Royals

Sudbury Town darts team visited Stowmarket Royals in the Suffolk Super League and ran out 6-2 winners. Five games went to a deciding leg, with Sudbury winning four.

Ian Randles (18.01 ave & 180) gave Sudbury the lead with a 3-1 win over James Pastfield, but the Royals drew level as Mark Theobald (20.89 ave) lost 3-1 to Kevin Roberts.

Dan Tatum (23.12 ave & 180) took the man of the match award with a 3-0 win over Gary Robinson to restore Sudbury’s lead, and Steve Balls (19.25 ave) made it 3-1 with a 3-1 win against Darren Southall.

Sudbury captain Toby Edwards (19.82 ave) had a 3-2 win over Scott Hayward, before Jason Stalker (21.28 ave) sealed victory with a 3-2 win over Richard Day.

Another 3-2 win saw Martin Totman (21.06 ave) beat Darren Moyes, before the match was ended with the best game of the night, which saw John Attwater (25.51 ave) lose 3-2 in a superb tussle with Graham Peck.

n Suffolk were comprehensively beaten 24-12 by visitors Northamptonshire in the British Inter Counties Championship Division Two at the weekend. There were 3-0 wins in Saturday’s Men’s B match for Sudbury’s John Attwater (25.47 ave) and Jason Stalker (21.78 ave), but Ian Randles (21.98 ave) lost 4-2 in the Men’s A match on Sunday.
