Sudbury Masters pair Stuart and Sharon McLellan came back from the National 3k Open Water Championships in Sheffield with gold and silver medals.

Stuart finished top of his age group in gold place with a time of exactly 47 minutes, while Sharon finished second in her age group in a time of exactly 53 minutes for a well-earned silver medal.

With the open water season well on its way, Sudbury Masters are travelling to all parts of the country to get their swims.

Gordon Coutts swam over on the Isle of Wight, finishing 14th overall and fourth in his age group.

Graham King, the club’s co-ordinator for most of the open water events, swam down at Clacton round the pier finishing in 47th place.

The masters have still a busy month ahead with Stuart McLellan and Terry Mansi heading off to Eindhoven in Holland for the 3k Open Water European Masters Championships and a relay open water team at Blenheim Palace.
