Season’s first success

Sudbury IV 6 Ipswich and East Suffolk IV 4

Sudbury chalked up their first win of the season with a hard fought victory over Ipswich and East Suffolk.

The home side started brightly with Sam Beven providing two powerful crosses from the right, both of which were knocked in by Steve Biggadike and Dan Belli.

The visitors lost heart and Sudbury’s energetic midfield, led by Jason Konrath, dominated the first half, leading to one more goal a piece for Belli and Ed Matthews.

The second half was very different. Sudbury’s younger midfielders ran out of steam, and IES moved the ball around well, pulling three goals back quickly.

Just in time, the injured David Cooper hopped to the far post to deflect one in for 5-3, but IES quickly pulled one back to 5-4.

Simon Partridge struck Sudbury’s sixth.
