With the 21st Halstead and Essex Marathon less than a week away, many of the clubs runners competing in it took the weekend off from racing in their final preparations for the award-winning race on Sunday.

Andy Wilmot was the exception to this. Fresh from his superb performance in last week’s London Marathon, he ran the Suffolk Heritage Coast Marathon in Thorpeness.

Aaron Heard, Charlotte May and Julia Woolnough all took on different venues in the popular 5k Saturday morning Park Run series.

Aaron Heard headed to Ipswich and recorded a new personal best (pb), finishing in 21 minutes and 45 seconds.

May took on the Great Notley event finishing just outside her pb in 29.16.

Julie Woolnough chose the tough Colchester Castle Park run and finished well in another pb of 27.08.
