Cycle Club Sudbury rider Rob Davies set out on a 10-day marathon yesterday, to raise funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in memory of his mother.
Rob will be covering more than 900 miles, accompanied by friends Adam Penton and Matthew Sharkey, from John O’Groats to Lands End, in memory of his mother Peta Elizabeth Davies who died of leukaemia aged just 32.
The trio will be covering 942 miles in the ten days, which includes 30,000 feet of ascending. They are unsupported, carrying all of their gear in panniers on the bikes. Sudbury Rugby Club colt Jack Davies is joining them for the last two days of the trip. Rob and Jack trained on Alpe D’Huez in the French Alps.
To date Rob has collected £1,680 in sponsorship with over £1,000 coming from colleagues at Delphi Diesel Systems in Sudbury.
The target is to raise £2,000 and anyone wishing to support the charity can donate at JUSTGIVING, Rob-Davies5.
