Motocross - Revamped track to host opener

MORE than 140 riders will contest a 12-race programme as Halstead and District Motorcycle Club opens its motorcross season on the revamped circuit at Little Loveney Hall, Wakes Colne, on Sunday.

The competitors in the second round of the Eastern Centre Solo MX Championships will be a mixture of expert and junior riders, including some of the leading points scorers.

Club riders Brad Tomlin, Chris Bastick, Jason Morland and Bradley Howlett, all in the top 10 of the points table, will be looking to impress their supporters at their home track, which was recently given a makeover by top MX rider Jake Nichols, Mark Mitchell and club members.

In the junior section, over 120 riders will be competing in heats to qualify for championship races.

Practice starts at 10am with the first race at 11.30am. Admission is £8 for adults, £5 for children and OAPs, and free for under-12s.
