ACTON’S Patrick Mortimer is taking his racing up a gear as he graduates to the turbo charged Mini Cooper JCW class.
The 50-year-old businessman had a glittering debut season last year, finishing second in the Mini Challenge Club Class and picking up best newcomer at the Mini Challenge Series awards night.
He will be looking to continue his success in the higher series as part of newly-formed Team Scalextric.
Advert Motosport with Andrew Crighton as team principal will prepare both cars and Mortimer and team-mate Adrian Norman will be mentored by last year’s Championship winner, Chris Knox.
Mortimer’s first race will be at Silverstone this Saturday, followed by Castle Combe on May 7, with the series also taking in Brands Hatch Indy, Snetterton 300, Oulton Park, Brands Hatch GP and finishing on October 6 and 7 at Donington Park.
Scalextric and Mini fans can follow the action over the summer on Facebook facebook/Scalextric, Twitter @Scalextric and #TeamScalextric, YouTube and Flickr with minute-by-minute live updates and video clips bringing the Scalextric toy to life. The Mini Challenge will also be televised on Mini TV online and MotorsTV.
