Conditions were perfect for Sunday’s Four Man Enduro at Tye Farm, Great Cornard with 19 teams in the Sudbury Motorcycle Club event.
Halstead rider Jason Morland was among a mixed club team racing as team 17 who triumphed in the five-hour marathon.
The line-up, which also included Woodbridge pair Matthew Dow and Sydney Bales as well as Diss’ Ben Talbot, managed to lap every other team by lap 105, completing the five hours with 106 laps.
The enduro saw each team member rotate after 15-minute sessions, with team 18 having to compete with three, which went down to two after one injured their hand halfway through.
Despite this, led by the veteran leader Adrian Coppen and Kelvin Vant with his first ride since his major operation earlier this year, they managed to claim sixth place.
The runners-up spot went to the Suzuki team three (S Roper, R Roper, Berry and Walsh) with 104 laps, beating the KTM-named team one (Roper J, Roper C, Parker and Waller) 21 seconds behind.
Although there were fewer teams competing, organisers Sudbury Motorcycle Club were pleased with the outcome on the day and several competitors have already started a countdown to next year.
The introduction of electronic lap scoring and timing this year was another success and there is talk of introducing classes and a trophy presentation next year.
