Lana Mo led the way for the Sudbury Storms in the ASA county swimming championships, bringing home two golds and five silvers.

A large contingent of Sudbury swimmers made the journey to Crown Pools in Ipswich for the championships, which were held over the last two weekends.

Mo brought home the 100m breaststroke gold (one minute 19.51 seconds) in the 12-14 age group, as well as coming first in the 50m backstroke (32.99secs) for the 13 age group and then placing second in 100m backstroke (1.13.00), 200m breaststroke (2.52.70), 100m freestyle (1.03.11), 200m individual medley (2.36.73) and 400m IM (5.39.45) all at the 13 age group.

Georgie Hodgson came third in the 50m butterfly final (38.41) for the 9-11 age group as well as gaining four personal bests.

Ella Rides had a successful weekend in the 15-plus age group, placing fourth in the 100m breaststroke final (1.21.02), third for the 50m breaststroke final (36.62) before gaining a fourth placing in the 200m breaststoke final (2.57.52) for the 15/16 age group and a fifth in the 100m IM (1.14.42).

Nick Robertson (15/16 age group) came fifth in both the 100m butterfly (1.03.67) and 50m freestyle (25.84) as well as getting personal bests (PBs) in all eight events entered.

Olivia Sherred was on great form too, also achieving PBs in all her events entered.

She placed fourth in the 13 age group 50m backstroke (34.37), fifth in the 100m backstroke (1.14.01) and 200m backstroke (2.40.51).

For some, this was their first experience of a county championship and Solo Nichol knocked two seconds off his PB to finish fifth in the 50m freestyle.

For all, it was a chance to race against the county’s fastest and this resulted in improved times with PBs for Orion Nichol, Sophie Murray, Redgi Keeble- Bradford, Alicia Demetriades, William Murray, Mollie Milsom, Gemma Rides, Maria Grumann, Harry Moye and John Jiang.

So far the Storms have four swimmers that have regional qualifying times and will progress to the Eastern Championships to be held at Norwich in June — Ella Rides (100m breaststroke), Nick Roberts (100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m butterfly), Laurence Chalk (100m freestyle, 100m butterfly), and Lana Mo (100m breaststroke, 200m butterfly).
