Lee Westwood to open Suffolk golf school

RECENT World no1 golfer Lee Westwood has selected Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf and Spa to be the southern-based venue for his prestigious golf school which is due to open in September.

It will be only one of two schools so far to open in the UK, offering a two-year programme designed to develop talented golfers aged 16 and above.

It is the first school of its kind to be accredited by the former world number 1, and will result in students gaining a BTEC Extended National Diploma in Sport.

This weekend there will be an open weekend for anyone interested in looking to attend the Lee Westwood Golf School. It takes places from 10am to 7.30pm tomorrow and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday.

The Stoke by Naland Club says the partnership is testament to the reputation it has gained in the international golf arena.

The club has also recently become a Regional Performance Centre for England Golf, and continues to work closely with the English Golf Union in developing young golfers.

From July 21-24, the Stoke by Nayland Gainsborough Course will host, for the second year, a televised European Challenge Tour Event, a professional tour with foundations deeply entrenched in the development of professional golfers and often used as a stepping stone to the European Tour.

Entry is free for spectators.
