Home crowd silenced by Blezard win

Sudbury Amateur Boxing Club’s (ABC) Connor Blezard got his season off to a winning start with an impressive display to defeat Cameron Hadley in front of his home crowd at Chelmsford.

Fighting in an under-70kg 17-and-under age group contest on Saturday night, Blezard registered a clear unanimous points victory after controlling the pace of the bout from the first bell.

He kept Hadley on the back foot for the majority of the contest, landing clean shots.

He showed little ring-rustiness in his first bout since the summer break, boxing very neatly and tightly while giving away very little in the way of scoring opportunities to his opponent until the last 10 seconds of the contest.

Hadley caught the Suffolk fighter with some strong shots, but the damage on the scoreboard was already irretrievable by that stage.

Blezard will have a rematch at Sudbury ABC’s first home show of the season at Sudbury Rugby Club, Spicer Way, Great Cornard on Sunday, November 17.

Boxing starts at 3pm with doors opening at 2pm. Adult tickets will be charged at £12 with under-16s £6, available from Sudbury ABC or on the door on the day (limited availability).
