Harden’s Wales side win international

Marcus Harden’s Wales side were victorious in the annual international match played on Stoke-by-Nayland’s Gainsborough Course.

His side took success ahead of Tim Dickens’ Ireland, Terry Went’s England and Red Reid’s Scotland.

In the Jubilee Salvers, the outright winners were Lesley and Barry Hitchcock with a score of 40 points, ahead of Ian McKay and Sandra Hodge and Tim Dickens and Lesley Garnett.

Doug Price (handicap 16) returned a net 68 to win Division One of the May Midweek medal, ahead of Richard Bland (15) and David Holland (13), both with net 70s.

Division Two was won by Peter Jiggens (20) with a net 76, dropping just five shots to par on the back nine, ahead of Daniel Hamilton (18) with net 69 and Daniel Brown (23) with net 74.

Holland continued his good form by winning Division One of the weekend Monthly Medal, returning net 69 from his reduced handicap of 12.

He edged out Alex Rowe (five) and Alex Royce (seven), who both recorded net 70s.

Division Two was won by Keith Brookes (16) with a net 67, with Robbie Stannard (16) recording net 68 and Martin Lockwood (17) net 70. Division Three winner David Boyden (28) carded net 71, with Nick Forsyth (19) and Shaun Underwood (19) both grabbing net 73s.
