Ellie Aldous has recaptured the Newton Green Golf Club ladies’ championship she won for the first time two years ago.
It was case of musical chairs with the 15-year-old’s fellow England girls’ training squad member Alice Barlow, who are both current holders of the Suffolk Haskell Trophy.
Last year Barlow took the 36-hole club championship from Aldous by three shots, but this year the tables were turned.
Barlow carded rounds of 74 and 82 (156), with Alodous two shots better on 80 and 74 (154) to regain the Ann Tankard Trophy.
The Emmie Hoar Trophy for the best net score went to 27-handicapper Rosie Jackson, who took up golf only 18 months ago. Her rounds of net 75 and 64 (136), saw her handicap slashed to 22 by the end of the day.
Jackson now joins the Newton squad aiming to retain the Suffolk Cranworth Trophy, which already includes Lizzie Johnson, whose two net scores of 71 (142) made her the Emmie Hoar runner-up.
