Sudbury Town’s darts team came out victorious in the big local derby with Bury in the Suffolk Super League – but, as expected, the match went all the way to the deciding game.

Martin Totman got Sudbury off to a great start, with a 24.51 average in his impressive 3-1 win over Richard Watson, but Bury were level as Glenn Bentley (16.78 ave) went down 3-0 to ex-Town player Nicky Wright.

Bury went ahead as Ian Randles (20.13 ave) lost 3-0 to Will Harwood, but the scores were soon level as Sudbury’s Gary Butcher (22.43 ave) beat Neil Avory by the same scoreline.

Sudbury captain John
Attwater (19.78 ave) put his side back in the lead with a 3-0 win over Chris Dale, but Bury’s Gary Flynn made it 3-3 as he beat Steve Balls (20.73 ave) by three legs to one.

Brett Claydon gave Sudbury the advantage again with a 3-0 win — his 27.83 average earning him another man-of-the-match award.

Jason Stalker (21.03 ave) held his nerve in a tense final game to beat Ryan Crickmore 3-1 and seal a fine 5-3 victory for Sudbury.
