With the Widdop League getting under way on Friday, a bit of juggling of the fixtures ensured two matches were played, a derby between Sudbury Snooker Club B and D, and Sudbury Snooker Club C against newcomers, Long Melford Working Men’s Club.
In the derby match the B side came out 4-2 winners, with Graham Cuthbert winning both his frames.
Shaun Boldock and Frank Irvine played first, with the game nip and tuck down to the pink, which Irvine took under pressure to put the D one ahead. But that was all they got until Bill Hemmett won the last frame against Colin Cole, the latter scoring a 23 break in his first frame against Mick Drury.
The other game ended 3-3. Ross Suggate got Melford off to a great start with a win against Basher Bayly. John Tatum levelled for Sudbury C, only for Dai Tatum to make it 2-1 after giving away a 28 start.
Bayly recovered from his first-frame defeat to level again against an unfortunate Sam Suggate.
Stalwart Michael Howard put Sudbury C ahead for the first time, only for Tatum to win his second of the night for the draw.
