SUDBURY RFC joint head coach Scott Harries heaped praise on his squad after their 28-15 derby victory against Stowmarket at Whittome Field on Saturday.
Tries from Fraser Beckett, Matt Griffiths and two from Josh Rix, as well as eight kicked points from Tom Summers, secured Sudbury an ultimately comfortable derby victory, their second of the season over their rivals, and stretched their winning streak to three in the London Three North East table.
Harries couldn’t hide his delight afterwards as he praised his player’s ability to cope with the added pressure of a derby match.
“We are delighted with the win and the lads played extremely well,” he said. “We stuck to our game plan and in the end we executed it perfectly.
“It was a good derby game, we beat them earlier in the season and we just seemed a little bit more up for it. There is always the added pressure in derby games and as a coach you want the players to cope with that and play well.
“Thankfully they did that.”
l League action will return on January 7 when Sudbury travel to strugglers Newmarket.
