‘WE’RE coming to get you’ – that’s the roar coming out of Sudbury Gladiators ahead of their first ever derby match with Bury Titans on Saturday (2.30pm).
Confidence is sky high in the Sudbury camp ahead of their home clash, with the hosts top of the Rugby League Conference East Regional while the Titans are slumped at the bottom.
While Sudbury have romped to victories over Northampton Demons ‘A’ and Norwich City Saxons, scoring 84 points to 20 against, Bury have conceded 92 points and only scored 40 in two painful defeats.
And Gladiators player/coach Andy Hunter believes another win is brewing ahead of Saturday, with Sudbury firmly holding the psychological upper ground.
“It is a big fixture union-wise and will be a big match for us,” he said. “We have stamped our authority down in the league so far but we want to smash the Titans and we want to maintain our 100% game record for as long as possible.”
A few absentees will mean Hunter, usually in the pack, may decide to pick himself at half back but he strongly believes Titans will be there for the taking, in what is hoped will be in front of a sizeable crowd at Sudbury Rugby Club’s Whittome Field.
“I am very, very confident,” he said.
