Eileen Hands had the perfect start to her year of captaincy at Stoke-by-Nayland by being a member of the winning team in the first of the mixed competitions.
The November Beaujolais Scramble is a firm favourite with all the members and, despite the wet conditions, proved to be a great success.
A strong field of players arrived early for a shotgun start, and the bright conditions helped some very low scoring but it was the team, led by new lady captain Hands, which could not be beaten.
The other team members were: Richard Cross and Graham and Bonnie Head.
It is the tradition for this competition to be followed by a Beaujolais brunch and this year was no exception.
