Hales leads Joggers home in Kirton

Keiran Hales was the first of a group of 14 Sudbury Joggers to cross the line in the second of the Friday 5 Series, this one held on a warm evening at Kirton.

He completed the distance in a time of 30 minutes and two seconds.

He was followed closely by Tom Challener in 30.04 then Ben Cuthbert 31.17, Malcolm Penn 32.38, Ady Frost 32.48, Clive Davey 34.10, Andy Glass 34.35 and David Chapman in 41.41.

First lady home for the Joggers was Louise Hampshire in a time of 36.09, followed by Dee St Ledger 39.01, Sarah Pennock 43.24, Lindsay Hobden 46.51.

Mel Evans’ 48.39 gave her a personal best time, as did Sharon Breward’s 53.57.

On Sunday all 13 Sudbury Joggers who took part in the Stour Valley Marathon, a 27-mile off-road, multi-terrain route, completed it with many experiencing their first taste of running off road.

Clive Davey and Christian Gillibrand completed the course in 4hrs 23mins.

Dee St Ledger and Charles and Jackie Hann finished in 5.04. Gin Craig, Rebecca Evans, Lizzie Sandford and Sarah Pennock all crossed the line hand-in-hand, finishing in 5.27.

The next Jogger home was Lisa Dalton in 5.49, followed shortly after by Dominic Turner in 5.51 with Kat Ross and Ben Cuthbert both finishing together in 6.40.
