TWO COUNTIES CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO
Easton 159 lost toHadleigh 163-3 by seven wickets
HADLEIGH maintained their lead at the top of Division Two with another convincing victory at Easton on Saturday.
In what is usually a tricky fixture, Josh Davey’s side once again showed their all-round qualities with a dominant performance.
Despite the searing heat, it was a familiar story as the Hadleigh seamers took charge, Kyle Tanner (4-50) and Mark Patterson (3-38) snaring four early wickets, including those of the dangerous Kimmerling and Chorlton.
Branch (71) helped Easton fight back, but 159 was never likely to be enough with so many of Hadleigh’s batsmen in fine form.
So it proved as Davey (25), Tim Rix (26), Tom Piddington (34no) and Ken Henry (64) all took advantage of the ideal batting conditions, guiding the visitors home with few alarms with more than 13 overs to spare.
With Witham and Worlington both winning, it was another vital step closer to promotion for Hadleigh, who now require another 54 points from their last four matches to be sure of top flight cricket next season.
