Gymnasts rise to the occasion

Sudbury Gymnastics Club members came home with a clutch of medals following the Pipers Vale Pearls competition.

In the novice age 12 and over section, Ismay Hathway took gold on vault and silver on beam, finishing 10th overall out of 13.

Chelsea Cullen was 11th overall and fifth on vault and bar, while Emma Robinson-Smith was 12th overall and sixth on beam.

In the age 10 and 11 of the section, contested out of 25, Ella Manby took gold and Lillie-Mae Massey silver in the overall competition.

Massey placed gold on vault and beam, while Manby placed gold on bars and joint silver on floor and silver on beam.

Lily Ford was eighth overall and took a silver place on vault, while Melanie Smith was 13th overall and eighth on bars.

Olivia Codling was 14th overall and fourth on bars and Alyssia Gronland was 21st overall and sixth on bars.

In the intermediate section of 13 and over, contested out of 23, Jade Collins took eighth overall, including sixth on bars.

Cerys Wrigley-Moss was ninth overall and had a silver on floor, winning a special rosette for artistic floorwork.

Chloe Page was 10th overall with a silver on bars, with Erica Halliwell 11th, including a ninth on beam and Niamh Bowyer was 14th, with a 10th on vault.

In the 11-12 age group, Hollie Hayward was seventh out of 34 to mark a successful return to competition after nearly two years recovering from injury.

Her highest placed apparatus was bars, coming fourth and missing out on a bronze medal by only 0.05 of a mark. Her floor exercise gained a special achievement sticker from the judge recognising a ‘lovely routine’.

In the advanced section for 13 and over, Louisa Pettican was sixth overall, out of 12, including a bronze medal on bars on another successful and confidence-building return from injury.

Ebony Tait was eighth overall, including a fifth on beam, while Emily Hookway was ninth overall, with a seventh on bars.
