Graham hits winning streak

Sudbury Bowls Club’s championship finals are proving fruitful for Graham Rowland, who has recorded a hat-trick of wins.

In the men’s singles he beat Mark Wickenden 21-8, in the set singles he beat Wickenden 2-0, and in the mixed triples, with Ann Coltman and Wickenden, beat David Parker, Eileen Parker and Jacqui Edgar 17-11.

Malcolm Grimwood and Graham Gooderham, in the men’s pairs, had a marathon game against Brian Stack and John Williamott, winning 18-15. Grimwood and Gooderham led throughout, and a spirited fightback in the last three ends could not make up the deficit.

In the ladies singles Penny Hill had a tough battle with Edgar. She had led from the start, but Edgar levelled at 19-19. Hill, known for pinpoint accuracy with her last bowl, took the game 21-19.

In the drawn pairs Terry Parsons and novice player Philip Frogg beat Kevin Williamson and Barry Eaves 24-16. In the two-wood singles final Andy Phillips beat Parker 16-9.
