Godbold confirms Ross Bailey as next summer signing
AFC Sudbury have made former Bury Town midfielder Ross Bailey their second summer signing.
The 20-year-old arrives at The Wardale Williams Stadium after a recent spell at Ryman League Division One North rivals Dereham Town.
Sudbury boss Jamie Godbold admitted to wanting to sign Bailey last season, but missed out on his signature to the Magpies after the ex-Suffolk under-18s midfielder left Bury Town in February.
“He was interested in coming to us but Dereham snapped him up,” the AFC manager revealed.
“Andy Reynolds, my assistant, has had past experience with Ross at Suffolk, and I think he will really suit the surface we’ll be playing on.
“He’s had a good experience of a few months at Dereham, and is coming with that under his belt.
“Ross is an attacking midfielder who has lots of potential.”
Godbold also announced that talented youngsters Jordan Blackwell and Kyran Clements have committed to another year at AFC.
n Meanwhile, work has started this week on the installation of AFC’s 3G artificial pitch.
The £350,000 renovation of the main surface will take nine weeks to complete.
