Woodbridge Town 1 Hadleigh United 1

With last Wednesday’s match against Brantham being postponed, Hadleigh United began the new year at Woodbridge on Saturday.

Hadleigh took the lead after a goalless first half, but the Woodpeckers ended strongly.

After 10 minutes, Jerrell Layne broke through for Hadleigh but fired wide with only keeper Dixon to beat.

At the other end, Hadleigh keeper Darren Moyes made a diving save to concede a corner but the first half was almost devoid of goalmouth activity.

Two minutes into the second half, Lee McGlone fired Hadleigh ahead from six yards.

Later in the second period a close-range header by McGlone was blocked by Dixon.

But Woodbridge were gradually getting the upper hand and keeper Moyes was kept busy as Hadleigh’s defence withstood pressure.

The equaliser came after 80 minutes as Trotter hit the underside of the bar and Ross Gilfedder netted the loose ball.

n Hadleigh Reserves lost 6-1 at Brantham Reserves with Kyle Cassell getting the consolation goal.
