Weekend sports round-up: AFC Sudbury beat basement side Ware

AFC Sudbury ended a three-match losing streak with a 2-0 home victory over bottom club Ware in the Ryman League North on Saturday, second-half goals from Tom Cutts and Dave Cowley bringing three much-needed points.

In the Thurlow Nunn League, Hadleigh United went down 3-1 at home to Godmanchester Rovers in the premier division.

Long Melford, third from bottom in the first division, drew 2-2 at home with Stowmarket Town, who are second from bottom. Cornard United, without a league win this season, went down to their 16th straight league defeat, losing 2-0 at home to local rivals Halstead Town.

Sudbury rugby club were beaten 37-18 at Harlow in their last London League 3 NE fixture of the year.

In the Premier League Norwich City beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 to move up to seventh, while in the Championship Ipswich Town’s four-game unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-0 defeat at Leeds United.
